V- Day
Connor got his 4 shots today, minus the PKU which they will do when I can get to the lab to get the blood sample card. So far so good. He was already fussy before the shots even began so we gave him his binky and of course he turned purple and screamed even harder during the shots, but was out like a light a minute after they were done and slept for about an hour, ate and cuddled for a while. He fussed for a bit again after that but I just gave him another dose of Tylenol and he is asleep again in his swing. This is his usual time for his big afternoon nap, so I'm hoping I'll have a couple hours to get some stuff done, but I'm not betting on it.
Today and most of yesterday has been really good. He's been in a great mood with the exception of the evening when he's had really bad gas but I have just been soaking it up because I have dreaded the worst with the vaccines. In the back of my mind I think that maybe he could be one of those kids that has a really bad reaction and will never be the same, so I'd better soak up the good times. What a horrible dooms-day way of thinking but I think it just comes with the job of being a mommy. I know he'll likely be fine in a day or so and tonight might be hard. I'll just have to rely on the Lord for strength and comfort for all of us right now.
After this is all over I should get to my next post which will be about why I choose to vaccinate rather than not. It's a growing trend to not vaccinate, especially among Christian families and home schoolers. I don't want to be a part of that growing stigma. I'll get more into that in the next post. Until then...
Here are Connor's stats for today:
15lbs 5oz
16 inch head circ.
23 inches long (which I dispute because he's outgrown SO many clothes, there's NO WAY he's only grown 3 inches!!!)
Check out Connor's growth charts at the bottom of the page!
