Trip To Vegas & Other News

Nick had an IBM conference a last week and so Connor and I were able to tag along and hang out for $100 round-trip! The weather was perfect so we headed out to the pool to test out the water. At first we tried the big pool but Connor cried immediately, I think mostly because the water was so cold. So we scooted over to the kiddie pool which was comfortable. It took Connor a few minutes to not cling to me but he played and enjoyed it for the most part. The next day when we went back, Connor knew exactly what we were doing. He puffed up his chest and stood up tall and got to 'work' playing! He had a lot of fun and didn't want to get out. As a side note, Costco diapers are awesome. I've never seen a diaper hold so much water in my life!

This was a big trip for Connor since he has had a lot of anxiety issues any time we leave the house. He's grown comfortable (FINALLY!!!) with his stroller and walking around. He's doing better with loud noises like the intercom and loud vehicles that drive by. And when we got home he even not only got through the grocery store without freaking out, he even sat up in the cart seat and didn't fuss the whole time (he actually enjoyed it!) He also did AMAZING on the flight home; He played, flirted, ate, slept played, all without one fuss. He usually screams out of fear when the intercom comes on but he didn't let out a peep or a worry. He's becoming a 'big boy' finally.

Now that we are back home, the weather is finally starting to warm up! This is fantastic because now we can actually start enjoying our walks to the park and do them more often. I know it's just a matter of months (maybe even weeks) until I have him in that baby swing, teaching him to 'fly.'

We had another success this morning too... I put a heavy blanket over the curtain rod in Connor's room (he already has curtains but they are kinda thin and wispy) and he slept ALL NIGHT until 8am!!! The last 2 night's he's made it to 6, but this is a huge deal and I am looking forward to continuing this trend. I'm going to have to go out and get some sort of liner for his window to help block out the light from now on.

Connor is also "walking." He still hates to be on his tummy for very long, even though he's figured out how to roll and stretch to get to things. He's always preferred to stand and now he's taking steps to get to what he's wanting. We have a set of Walking Wings that I use mostly for the sake of my back and they work OK, but he does fantastic when I just hold his hands. We walked across the living room at least 3 times today to get to toys and touch the furniture and whatnot. He had a blast figuring out how to walk like mommy!
