18 Weeks Monday
OK, so I think I finally started bonding with this baby this week.
I know it may seem strange to wait to"bond" this far along for some, but it just IS what it IS. After about 7 kicks in a row the other day I finally opened up and talked to him/her and laughed and had fun and just now he/she kicked me so hard in the bladder, I HAD to get up! VERY strong little one and I am really blessed to feel this much movement this early on. A lot of mommies wouldn't feel anything for weeks still and their husbands even more so. So I sing songs and baby dances vigorously; now maybe he just doesn't like my singing voice, but I think it's actually just happy. The only other time he dances so much is when daddy cuddles him and after breakfast lunch a dinner. So I think we have a happy, dancing, cuddling, food-happy baby in there.
N. has been SO sweet and supportive and he gets SO excited about feeling the baby move and he spends time "holding" the baby every single morning and every single night. The baby curls up in a ball up to N's hand and cuddles as close as it can get. He/She is finally showing signs of rest and activity periods on a regular schedule. Baby is also a very heavy sleeper in the morning. I can't get him to move for anything until I eat breakfast. I find it amusing how we already can see that this child has a unique personality.
So I had my first midwife appointment this week! It was kinda short and sweet but Connie seems great; she's very gentle and kind and is proactive! She helped calm my nerves about finding a new care-giver if we head back to TX soon (I'll write more on this later) and she copied all the pages for me from her super-secret midwives network book for Texas! What a relief! Most importantly, there wasn't a shred of negativity in her like I get from the doctors every time I go. I SWEAR that they look for any reason possible to make a woman worry and I HATE how they have abortion advocacy posters in the bathroom!!! That just rubs it in more! I'm so glad to be out of there.
Oh, by the way, Baby is measuring right on schedule and the heartbeat is very strong and easy to find. This week my back is hurting a lot as my tummy is quickly expanding. I'm having to re-learn to shift my weight and balance myself. So baby is supposed to get to a WHOLE POUND within the next couple of weeks! That's a lot of growth in 4 weeks from 4oz to 16! No wonder everything feels so heavy and tight! I'm really hoping the Stretch-Mark and the Hemorrhoid Fairies stay AWAY! Anyone know of any good sprays out there on the market? Does DEET work?
10 Days until the BIG Scan!
